Forgiveness: If you won't give it, you can't get it!

It is a fact of life that people sometime hurt each other. This is not as it should be, but I am speaking of reality. It is possible for one person to inflict physical hurt upon another. Even worse, we sometime hurt others emotionally. Emotional hurt is usually more difficult to overcome than physical hurt but regardless, neither are to be desired.

When we are hurt by someone we usually respond by striking back and that never solves the problem. Occasionally a person who has hurt another undergoes a change of heart, offers apologies, and sincerely ask for forgiveness. Occasionally that forgiveness is not granted, and that is one of the most disastrous scenes one can witness. Why? Simply this; "If You Won't Give it - You Can't Get It!" Jesus said; "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your father forgive your trespasses." (Mat. 6:14-15)

1 . It will cause one to be lost in hell because there is no way for one to be forgiven of his sins unless he is willing to forgive others. The unforgiving person seals his own doom forever.

     2. It will cause one to live a miserable life because nobody can carry the burden of vengeance and be happy. There are enough burdens in life without carrying the biggest one of all.

     3. It makes life frustrating for the one seeking forgiveness. It is discouraging when one seeks to improve and restore respect, but his or her efforts are ignored. No one likes to be rejected.

     4. It drives others away from us when we carry with us an unforgiving spirit. No one enjoys the person made wretched by such a hard and unhealthy spirit.
