TAKE THE FIRST CORINTHIANS
CHAPTER 14 TEST
1. Does your church teach that
prophecy is much more
edifying than tongues? (1
Corinthians 14:1-6)
2. Does your church teach that an uncertain sound from a trumpet
or a tongue that was not understood, would result in confusion? (1
Corinthians 14:7-17)
3.
Does your church teach that speaking five words that can
be understood is better than
ten thousand words which can not be understood? (1 Corinthians 14:19)
4.
Does your church teach that tongues were for a sign to
the Jews (1 Corinthians 1:22),
to the unbeliever, and not for the enjoyment of the believer? (I
Corinthians 14:22)
5.
Does your church teach that gibberish in the worship
service only confuses the
unlearned and turns them against
the truth? (1 Corinthians
14:23)
6.
Does your church teach that no more than three people
were to speak in tongues at
the same service? Even then, only one could speak at a time. (I
Corinthians 14:27) Most
modern day tongue speakers
ignore this time and time again.
7.
Does your church teach that if there was no one present
who could interpret every word
to every person in the audience, then they could not speak in tongues?
(I Corinthians 14:28)
8.
Does your church teach that there is not to be confusion
in the service? "God is not
the author of confusion" (1 Corinthians
14:33). Confusion best
describes most modern day meetings that
promote speaking in tongues.
9. Does
your church teach that the women were not to speak in the churches? (1
Corinthians 14:34-35). It is a well known fact that many women claim to
have the gift of tongues today and preach and even pastor some churches.
You may be assured that this is not of God.
10.
Does your church teach that all things were to be done
"decently and in order." (1
Corinthians 14:40). People who uncover their nakedness while claiming to
be under the power
of the Holy Spirit are surely
not of God.
Even if you answered "YES" to
all of these question, your
church has still failed the
test, if it, or you practice tongues, for
these were rules governing the
gift of tongues for the early
New Testament Church. We no
longer need or have the signs
of tongues (known languages),
because we have the complete
Bible, The Word of God. (1
Corinthians 13:8-10)
